First QuarterWe will be reading the novel, Hate that Cat to study poetry and figurative language. This story is the companion novel to the book, Love that Dog, that the students are reading in the regular classroom.
We will study terms like, simile, hyperbole, idiom, metaphor and other types of figurative language. Using a variety of technology and multimedia sets we will be interacting with language and creating our own sentences using the new terms. Then students will be interpreting a variety of small poems to identify the figurative language, symbols, and poetry characteristics. Last, students will end the unit by reading Hate that Cat. |
